Declan O’Brien

I am a full-time professional artist from Ireland, and my work grows from Atlantic weather, restless coastline, and the shifting colour of rain and sea. I paint with direct, physical gestures, building canvases from bold strokes, dragged colour, and passages left deliberately raw. Although the work is expressive, each layer is placed with intent, and contrast is used to give the composition its charge. I am committed to developing original paintings that carry a sense of movement into a room. For me, a painting should feel alive: energetic, honest, and slightly untamed.
