Choosing Entryway Wall Art
An entryway painting sets the tone for the whole home in a few seconds, and it is usually seen while moving rather than from a seat. That calls for art that reads clearly at a glance: confident shapes, defined contrast and a scale that suits the wall. This collection gathers hand-painted entryway and foyer wall art, much of it vertical or square, in textured, minimalist, wabi-sabi, expressionist and colorful styles.
What size art works in an entryway?
Above a console table, aim for artwork about two-thirds to three-quarters of the console width, hung so the center sits at roughly eye level, about 57 to 60 inches from the floor. In a narrow hall or beside a door, a tall vertical canvas usually fits better than a wide one. In a double-height foyer, go larger than feels natural; small art looks lost in tall spaces.
Vertical or horizontal?
Vertical paintings suit narrow walls, spaces beside doorways and areas above slim consoles. Square paintings work in compact entries and above round tables. Horizontal canvases suit wider walls above benches or long consoles. Compare vertical and square formats.
Which style makes a good first impression?
Textured neutral paintings feel welcoming and calm. Black-and-white or graphic abstracts look crisp and modern. A colorful expressionist canvas can give a plain hall personality. Choose a painting that connects to the colors of the rooms beyond, so the entry feels like part of the home rather than a separate space.
Does entryway lighting matter?
Entries are often lit from above or have little daylight. Lighter palettes and texture help a painting stay visible. A picture light or an angled spotlight can make a textured canvas a feature.
Should entryway art be framed?
Entryways see traffic, so a frame helps protect edges. Black and wood frames are the most practical; gold suits classic hallways. Each painting can be ordered rolled, stretched or framed. See also minimalist and textured wall art.

Before you order
Avoryne paintings are made to order from selected designs. A design may be painted more than once, with natural variations in brushwork, color, and surface details. We share a finished-painting preview for approval before dispatch. Confirm the available size, finish, and timing for your chosen artwork.
Read our sofa art sizing guide and canvas and framing guide. For a different size or palette, discuss a custom painting. Designers can explore the Trade Program, with no minimum order quantity and project-specific pricing and timing.
