Choosing Hallway & Staircase Wall Art
Hallways and stairwells are seen in passing, so art there needs to read quickly and fit narrow or tall walls. This collection gathers hand-painted pieces that work well in transitional spaces: tall vertical canvases, coordinated sets and calm abstracts and landscapes.
Which styles suit this room?
Textured neutrals, minimalist abstracts and tall landscapes suit most hallways. Bold graphic pieces can turn a plain corridor into a feature. Compare vertical paintings and sets.
Where should the painting hang?
Hang art at eye level for someone standing in the hall, about 57 to 60 inches to the center. On a staircase, follow the angle of the stairs and keep each piece at a consistent height above the treads.
What size should I choose?
Choose tall, narrow formats for slim walls; a series of two or three panels for long corridors; and larger pieces for stair landings where they can be seen from below.
Which paintings work well in a hallway?
Tall canvases that read clearly from a few steps away. Orbit in Earth by Clara Whitmore radiates deeply grooved rings in black and beige; Single Current by Mei Arlen Zhao runs one wide dry-brushed stroke of gray, black and silver down a white canvas; Twin Crane Canopy by Renji Aoki is a gold-ground chinoiserie panel of pine, cranes and plum blossom; and Mineral Patina by Ronan Keane glows with oxidized teal, copper and gold.
How should hallway art be lit?
Hallways are often lit from above, which suits textured plaster: a downlight or picture light grazing the surface brings out the relief. Avoid hanging a dark painting directly opposite a bright window, where glare can wash it out. In a narrow hall, a frameless stretched canvas keeps the profile flat against the wall.
Can I hang a series along a corridor?
Yes. Hang two or three related pieces at the same center height with equal gaps, or space single paintings at regular intervals along a long corridor so each one is seen as you walk past.
How are these paintings made?
Each painting is made by hand from the selected design after you order, usually in 1–2 weeks, and you approve photos or video of the finished painting before it ships. Choose rolled canvas, a frameless stretched canvas or a black, white, wood, gold or silver frame.

Before you order
Avoryne paintings are made to order from selected designs. A design may be painted more than once, with natural variations in brushwork, color, and surface details. We share a finished-painting preview for approval before dispatch. Confirm the available size, finish, and timing for your chosen artwork.
